Immunisations Page

Immunisation is a safe and effective way to help protect you, your whānau and the wider community from serious vaccine-preventable illnesses. Ōtaki Medical Centre provides a comprehensive range of funded and non-funded vaccinations, delivered by our trained nursing team Monday to Friday.

  • Childhood immunisations on the New Zealand National Immunisation Schedule, including baby, toddler, preschool and school-age vaccines. These scheduled immunisations are free for tamariki.
  • Catch-up immunisations for children, teenagers and adults who may have missed vaccines or are unsure whether they are up to date.
  • Pregnancy immunisations, including influenza and whooping cough vaccination where eligible, to help protect both parent and pēpi.
  • Adult influenza vaccinations, including funded flu vaccines for people aged 65 years and over and for those who meet eligibility criteria due to certain health conditions or other risk factors.
  • Influenza vaccinations for healthy adults and children who would like seasonal flu protection but do not meet funded criteria.
  • COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters, including funded vaccines for eligible people and additional doses where recommended. Our nurses can discuss current guidance, timing since your last dose or infection, and whether a COVID-19 vaccine is suitable for you.
  • Adult diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough boosters, including Boostrix vaccinations where appropriate.
  • Occupational vaccinations for people who may be at higher risk through their work, such as hepatitis A and B vaccinations.
  • Vaccinations provided as part of public health initiatives, recalls or outbreak response programmes.
  • Other non-funded vaccinations, such as shingles and Boostrix vaccinations. Please speak with your doctor or nurse about whether these vaccines are suitable for you and whether a cost applies.

Immunisations are an important part of the nursing services provided at Ōtaki Medical Centre. Our nurses can check your immunisation history, discuss which vaccines are recommended for your age, stage of life, health needs or occupation, and help you understand whether a vaccine is funded or privately charged.

If you or your child have missed a scheduled vaccine, it is usually possible to arrange a catch-up plan. Please contact our nursing team if you are unsure what is due, have recently moved to New Zealand, do not have a complete immunisation record, or would like advice before booking.

As part of our immunisation service, we can also provide workplace vaccinations for local businesses, including seasonal influenza vaccination clinics where appropriate. If your organisation requires staff vaccinations, please contact the medical centre to discuss your needs, timing, numbers and any associated costs.

Please note: We do not currently offer travel vaccinations. If you are travelling overseas, please contact a travel medicine provider or pharmacy offering travel vaccination services well before your departure date.
